Obviously here at Retrospective Bride, we look for something completely unique and refreshing when it comes to the world of weddings and it’s no different for the celebration of the hens! When planning my own, my bridesmaids & friends were under strict instructions that even a hint of an L plate, veil or plastic penis shaped drinking straw and I’d be back on that train home!

Luckily for me, my hens knew I wasn’t joking and even though they still managed to sneak one plastic penis reference in there somewhere, they planned the perfect getaway for us all to beautiful Brighton for a weekend.

During that weekend, we visited a quirky little ol’ place called The Tea Cosy – a heaven for American tourist, I would bet, where the traditional high tea is served in the most amazing surroundings, every nook and cranny filled with Royal memorabilia. It really is a fascinating little place and I even returned there with my new husband on our UK honeymoon!

With the success of vintage tea parties (as seen by the absolutely amazing Vintage Patisserie company on Dragons’ Den) vintage china hire and tea party organisers are popping up all over the place, which is fantastic! Enjoying afternoon tea in your own home has now become really popular for any celebration, but mix it up with pampering sessions, and replace the tea with cocktails, and you have a real hen party to remember!

Calamitea Jane’s Vintage Tea Parties started off as just vintage china hire but we had so many people ask if we provided the cakes too that just recently we’ve teamed up with an amazing caterer to bring customers the whole experience of afternoon tea with a range of menus to choose from. Specifically for hens, we’ve now teamed that with vintage hair and make up lessons for an added glamorous touch to the event!

So if you’re looking for a delicious combination of high tea and high glamour, just contact us for the best vintage tea party around!
