Right at the end of last year (ooh, that sounds weird!) I featured some amazingly alternative modes of transport for your special day. While I was browsing for inspiration and other couple’s stories, I was contacted by the lovely Suzie from Karma Kars Cotswold who are lucky enough to own a gorgeous 1950s vintage Indian Ambassador adorned with wreaths of beautiful flowers for brides and grooms looking for someone a little bit different for their special day.

Suzie has kindly shared some photos of a recent wedding – that of the lovely Charlotte & Tom with the special car in all its beauty! So, here it is for all of you special Retro Bride readers who are continually on the lookout for something other than the norm!

Charlotte & Tom ~ An Indian Inspired Wedding

“Ambassadors are like a bigger version of a Morris Minor and are based on the Morris Oxford.  What makes this Ambassador so special however is that both bumpers are adorned with flowers and its interior is bejewelled with rich fabrics of red and gold – otherwise known as a Karma Kar wedding car.

Charlotte & Tom first came across the 1950s style Ambassador cars when travelling through India.  When the couple came across my Karma Kar based near their wedding venue in the Cotswolds, they were thrilled and delighted at how perfectly it fitted into their vintage theme and love of India too.

I picked up the bride and her father from some rented Cotswold cottages a few miles away from their barn wedding venue.  The 15 minute journey was a quiet, reflective moment for Charlotte to thank her Father for everything whilst making sure he had his speech, mobile phone on silent, etc!

Charlotte wore the most beautiful 1930s vintage gown of lace – she looked so incredible.

After the ceremony and a few pictures inside the car, I allowed the groom to take his bride for a quick spin in the car around the grounds.  This the guests loved as I watched a throng of them run across the lawn to capture the moment just like paparazzi.

Rather than the traditional honeymoon, Charlotte, Tom and a few of their closed friends headed off to the Glastonbury Festival for one hellava party!

This wedding all sounds pretty perfect to me – personal, fun and different. Congratulations to Charlotte & Tom!
